The nearby stream is said to be Sita's bathing spot and a rock where she prayed. Across the stream, depressions are claimed to be the footprints of Ravana's elephant. The temple water is revered for its clarity, except for one spot believed to be cursed by Sita herself. Despite being a small temple complex, it is steeped in history, culture and legend.
