    Kalpitiya is located under three hours along the Northwestern coastline, directly North of Negombo. The best time to visit is between October and May.

The fort remained under Dutch control for over 90 years before being taken over by the British military for over six decades.

    There are two ways to enjoy a visit to Wilpattu National Park: you can either drive from Kalpitiya for 2 hours and 20 minutes to reach the park or cut your travel time in half by taking a boat ride from Kalpitiya across the ocean to Wilpattu. Sri Lanka's largest national park, Wilpattu, is renowned for its population of leopards, ranking among the highest in the world. Unlike the crowded Yala Park, Wilpattu offers a more tranquil safari experience. Within this serene landscape, visitors can observe leopards and diverse wildlife, including crocodiles, sambhur, water buffalo, elephants, and the elusive sloth bear. The park also boasts vibrant birdlife, particularly from November to April, featuring eagles, owls, kites, and various waders that thrive around the ‘willus’, the sand-rimmed basins filled with rainwater.
