Parrot Rock Mirissa is a small rock island located on Mirissa Beach. To reach It, which is about 50 feet into the ocean, you have to walk or wade across safely. It is a beautiful location and famous for taking Instagrammable sunsets in Mirissa. Capture the palm-fringed shorelines and a host of other landscapes that lay across almost to infinity. Just 10 minutes from Mirissa town, most couples will combine a visit to Coconut Tree Hill with Parrot Rock in the evenings for fantastic sunset vistas.
Once on the rock, a narrow pathway will lead you to its summit. From here, enjoy the best shoreline views, miles of golden sand stretching as far as the eye can see. To your left, you should also see another famous Instagram sunset location, One Tree Hill. The ocean stretches out towards the blue horizon, and if you’re here during sunset, watch the sky radically change into beautiful colours under the influence of the setting sun.
While Parrot Rock is most famous for capturing scenic photos, few people are aware that surrounding this rock is vibrant marine life teeming with colourful fish congregating around the rocks. The rocks and coral sustain many nutritious food sources, which attract the fish, creating an incredible underwater snorkelling experience.
The beach in Mirissa is in “season” and is the calmest and clearest from November to April. During this time, the water around Parrot Rock becomes so clear that you can view the marine life from above. However, we advise against off-season visits as the seas are rough and create an unsafe environment.
