One of the most popular spots on the island, the famous Instagram photo location, Coconut Tree Hill, is a 15-minute walk from the Mirissa beach and is Mirissa’s best viewpoint of the pristine coastline and magical sunsets.
Couples often visit here at sunset, combining it with Parrot Rock, a short distance away, to capture silken sunsets. This unique hill protrudes into the ocean and overlooks the coastline and beaches of Mirissa for incredible vistas.
Despite being on private land, Coconut Tree Hill has captured the island visitor’s cynosure and allure, with couples flocking here to take fantastic sunset pictures of themselves against the ocean backdrop and the swaying coconut groves.
While most walk along the secret beach to the hill for access to the top, it is also easily reached by the roadside. After passing Varagalle Point and Bandaramulla temple, keep heading up the road, and you can turn from the street towards the coast and reach Coconut Tree Hill.
A grove of swaying coconut trees made of stones, gravel, and mud; reaching the top takes just a few minutes to watch the scenery unfold. The spot is trendy for photographs at sunset, so if you want to capture the best photos, arrive here a little early, pick a place to watch the sunset, and snap away.
